Manufacturing Engineer

Summary:
Located within the Telford business providing technical and process related support to operations supervision. Responsibility for driving operational excellence through process reliability, quality, capability and continuous improvement

Key Responsibilities:
Responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
– To prioritise, generate and promote safe working practices and adherence to Health and Safety
standards at all times
– To provide technical support to operations working closely with operations management to ensure
optimum facility OEE performance
– Develop, update and maintain all machine specifications ensuring any changes to, or new machinery
conforms to site and legal requirements
– Maintain a master for all machine and associated tooling CAD drawings and layouts
– Lead all Engineering Change requirements and implementation programmes
– Lead analysis of in-process defect data to drive root cause analysis and issue closure
– Lead continual development of the manufacturing process to ensure process capability
– Generation and update of all master process documentation in line with business audit requirements
– Lead plant PPM definition, development and adherence of the maintenance program
– Lead and motivate the maintenance personnel to achieve KPI’s and ensure plan is maintained to the
highest standard
– To provide necessary and defined data for the natural work team board
– Manage departmental and cultural change through leadership by example
– Maintain training plan/area skills matrix and holiday plan
– Monitor performance of employees, ensuring high levels of people productivity through performance
processes and appraisals
– Support the generation and development of and CI/EI actions that benefit the output of the function,
health & safety and compliance to company standards

Qualifications & Skills:
Essential:
– HNC Qualification in Mechanical/Mechatronic Engineering or equivalent
– Demonstrable technical and hands on knowledge of high volume manufacturing
– Demonstrable knowledge required to control and improve production systems, meeting with regulatory requirements,
– Lean methodologies (Kaizen, 5S, Visual Management etc)
– CAD 3D and 2D, PFMA creation and control plan activities – Demonstrable experience within electrical and mechanical PLC fault finding/repair
– Flexibility within the role – Knowledge and awareness of Health/Safety and Environmental standards
– Effective communicator/listener/leader – Strong people management skills – Proficient with Microsoft Office applications and interpretation of figures, statistics, regulations and policies – Adept at the creation and maintenance of technical and procedural documentation
– Experience in utilising trouble shooting and problem solving methodologies along with completion of specific documentation such as A3 & 8D formats
– Effective management of suppliers and equipment manufacturers
– Acute attention to detail and ability to prioritise and meet deadlines
– Enthusiasm, drive and the ability to take initiative
– Strong self reliance and personal motivation with the capability to work on own initiative as well as part of a wider team when required
– Assertiveness and decisiveness, proactive and self-motivated

Desirable:
Degree qualified in applicable Engineering discipline

Hours of Work:
The candidate should be willing to work all shift patterns.
